#25 | 2023-09-16 | New Traps

Hello!

It's been almost two weeks since my last log, and almost a week since I touched this project. But in  the time since the last log, I've created a few new traps and finished one of the very long levels.

This idea came to me out of the blue, making portal to "teleport" the player to different parts of the level. This will make for some interesting level design and challenges. It should be noted that all the graphics shown, with the exception of the rotary saws, are placeholders until I create polished versions.

I already have stationary and moving rotary saws, so why not make some that fall? In addition to that, I made the delay between spawning random (Random.Range) to add more challenge in getting past this trap.

What better trap to encounter than a cannon? Was quite simple to make and I learnt new that you can assign a prefab script's variables before instantiation (spawning).

Flame Jets! I vaguely remember encountering something similar to this in one of the original Super Mario Bros games and decided to add this to my game. Like the falling saws, the enabling and disabling of the flame is completely random.

Although I'm getting bored with this project, I intend to finish it. I will be releasing the Beta v1 build soon for testing. Hopefully I can get more testers than Alpha v2, as only one person tested and provided feedback.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for the next log!
