#15 | 2023-07-17 | General Progress


Hello!

With my latest code overhaul finished, there were a few things left to adjust.


My "Respawn Manager" script handled setting the player's variables (speed, gravity, jump force) but it didn't seem right.

I created a new script, a master script, that would handle setting the player's variables when they spawned. This script goes on the Game Manager too.


After creating that script, I had to modify every single on that interacts with the player's variables. It took some time but was easy now that I fully understand referencing scripts and accessing components of different gameobjects.


One more thing to note is that I completed a new first level with the improved graphics I created.


After thinking a bit more about the basic story behind the game, I began to question having the player to infinitely fly. The player having the ability to fly didn't fit with the story, until I realized that I could just give him a jetpack. That would be fun to design makes flying seem less out of place.

I'll start working on the jetpack and new levels next. I hope to have the second alpha version out by the end of the month.
